settling in

For the first time in over a week, I actually feel quite positive! Got my theme sorted, started moving bits of my online life away from tumblr and onto other platforms, and ready to meet some new people (as well as finding old ones)! What happened last Monday has proved to be the most awful, disruptive shock - it's been a lot of work (a lot of emotional work too) but I think I can see potential for some good things to come out of it.

I don't really want to get into my feelings about what's happening on tumblr on here as I'm finding this place to be a welcome respite - my blog there is one giant ragepost and I plan to just walk away from it after Dec 12th. Just know I consider it all to be A Very Bad Thing - not just for fandom, but for everybody.

Anyway, onwards we go. I've better things to spend my energy on, the new year is coming, and maybe it'll bring us some good news for a change.

I'm glad you're getting yourself organised over here and starting to feel more positive. The last week has been a bit crazy for all of fandom, but we'll fix things - we always do :-)

With you on all that, and very glad you chose to migrate here too. :) I'm glad I didn't have to set up my journal here from nothing, just the Gradence comm.
I've been very quiet on DW for a long while, so resurrecting things should be interesting.

If nothing else good, may the new year bring lots of Gradence fic!

yeah i really hope a few more come over - it's much better for fandom writers and thinkers and we can actually talk, *gosh* ;)

i haven't had chance to look round the gradence comm yet but i was excited to see it :D

I think more will turn up here after the 17th, when they actually start clearing out blogs. That's going to be a slap in the face and a kick in the butt all at once.

Talking is good! People do it when they have something to say, rather than to just absently re-blog cat pics for hours on end. More collabs might come out of it, too.

I'm excited about it too! Wish there was something there to look at already. :p

Yes, tumblr can be so very passive - I think about all those posts from creators begging for reblogs and feedback and I think the format was a lot to blame. Certainly the number of people there are complaining that pillowfort is quiet suggests that might be the case - we've got too used to it all just scrolling past us instead taking an active part?

What kind of things do you want in the comm, in case I should stumble upon/accidentally write when I'm not looking (this happens more than it should :/)?
